Club Business
Mary Thomas Gilbert convened a Zoom meeting at 4 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, for our club only. We spent quite a bit of time talking among ourselves as we waited for everyone to log on. Micah led us in prayer and a recitation of the pledge of allegiance to our flag. Mary Thomas mentioned recent and pending member birthdays and anniversaries. She said the Feed the Hunger Packathon has been rescheduled for June at Holly Hill Mall. Dick told us that Tommy Rosser, our next District Governor, informed him that each club will be able to make its own decision regarding when and how to restart physical meetings, as long as we adhere to state guidelines. Presently, we are limited to 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors. June 26 is the target date for initiating phase 3 of the recovery, at which time restrictions may be further eased.
At this point, we plan to have another Zoom meeting next Tuesday at 4 pm for our club. We are looking into renting a shelter at Springwood Park for a bring your own lunch outdoor meeting in a couple of weeks. Long term there is a possibility that we can resume at Burlington Beer Works, pending phase three decisions and the possible opening of more outside dining areas. In the meantime, joint Area 3 meetings are continuing on Zoom, as well, as announced by email.
Randy Perkins, sporting a fine new beard, reminded us that we will have a District Town Hall meeting with Dr. Sharon Presnell, on Wednesday, June 3, at Noon.
