Dick announced birthdays and anniversaries and then thanked everyone who has donated to a special initiative to support emergency responders at Cone Health. A total of $1050 has been raised so far.
Mac Williams had the member spotlight. He has been president of the Chamber since 2005. The job required that he join a civic club and he is glad he joined the Rotary Club of Alamance. Prior to moving to Burlington, he lived in Greensboro and then Asheville. He has two daughters – one about to graduate from UNC-CH and one who graduated from Furman and is now living in Chicago. He is the oldest of three boys and is an unashamed Green Bay Packer fan.
Program: Emily Warter – Purdue University
Sang H Lee introduced himself. He came to the States on 12/24/1986 and was naturalized in 1993. He is a graduate of ACC, UNCG, and is now attending Purdue University’s MBA program. Sang Ho was instrumental in developing the sister cities relationship with Gwacheon, South Korea. Over the years, many students from Gwacheon have visited Burlington and our Club.
Sang Ho’s guest was Emily Warter of Purdue University, which has 46,000 students. She is Senior Manager, Online Academic Programs for the Krannert School of Management, a position she accepted just a few months before COVID-19 hit the U.S. in full force. She shared how the School of Management and the entire university adapted to the new reality with online and hybrid courses. She also shared many fun facts about the “Boilermakers.” The official mascot of Purdue is a Train and the unofficial mascot is Purdue Pete.
Dick thanked Sang Ho and Emily for the presentation.
Conclusion
Dick wrapped up the meeting with the Four-Way Test.
