Club Business
President Mary Thomas Gilbert brought the meeting to order. Micah Fox led us in prayer and the pledge of allegiance to the US flag. Ed Woodall introduced his guest, Chelsea Dickey, with Motley, Champions of Community, Advocates of Local Business. Mary Thomas wished Stuart, Jim, and Brian happy birthdays. (See calendar below.) Micah, filling in for Carolyn Rhode in the secretary spot, gave the second reading for Richard Atkins and the first one for Charlie Nolette. Our club will be even better when these two valuable members of the community join us. Mary Thomas reminded us to participate in the upcoming Feed the Hunger Packathon on Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at the Mall. Joseph said that we should enter through the Hibachi – YoZone entrance. This will be a family of Rotary event; so, bring your family.
Next week Dick O’Donnell will have the program. On the 17th we will have our Dirty Santa party. We will not meet on the 24th and 31st of December.

Happy Dollar Announcements
- Dick O’Donnell announced that the Chamber’s After Hours meet and greet group will take place tonight at the Children’s Museum in Graham. All members of our club are invited.
David Moore spent a few minutes clearing up the confusing information out there about health insurance. He let us know that only people under 65 who are not in a group program will be affected by the recent switch that BCBS of NC made that only has UNC Hospitals in network. If you are in this group, Ambetter will provide in network coverage for ARMC. David sells this, if you need it.
Program: David Dyer – Disrupting Workplace Drama
Our president, Mary Thomas Gilbert, introduced our speaker, David Dyer of the David Dyer Group. David grew up on a horse farm in SW Virginia and is not surprisingly a master horseman. In addition to business pursuits, David is a pilot and a volunteer EMT. He was part of the team that was sent to the Pentagon on 9/11/2001. He has been coaching people for twenty-five years in business and life.
David began his presentation telling us that approximately 2.9 hours per day are lost in workplaces because of personal drama issues. This is a huge manpower and income draining problem, which the David Dyer Group addresses. He then endeavored to give us a few keys to having better relationships, using the DISC method of personality evaluation. He told us that he prefers the DISC assessment better because it offers solutions. “Information without application is useless,” he said. His presentation was informative and entertaining. He agreed to stay after the meeting to answer more questions.
Conclusion
No card lottery today. Only 48 cards remain. Our odds will be slightly better next week when we once again try to find the Ace of Spades. Mary Thomas led us in a recitation of Rotary’s four-way test before we adjourned. See you next time.
