Program: Joe Jacaruso, Appalachian Trail Hiker
Joe hiked the complete AT with his son a few years ago. The AT is approximately 2200 miles, stretching from Georgia to Maine. Only 25% people that begin the hike actually finish. Some reasons people don’t finish:
- Lack of money
- Tired of walking
- Injuries
- Running out of time
- Family pressure
Joe and his son completed the trail over the course of 5 months, averaging 18 miles a day in rain, sleet, snow and sunny weather. On the trail, everyone has nicknames. Joe’s was “Easy Hiker” and his son’s was “Trail Trash.” The pictures Joe shared were fantastic.
