Ron Osbourne – Residential Treatment Services of Alamance
Julian Griffin brought the program for today’s meeting. He spoke briefly about how the club started and serving as it’s first President. He is a Baptist Preacher, glad to see us growing this club, and is very glad to have women in the club.
Julian introduced Ron Osbourne, Executive Director of Residential Treatment Services of Alamance (RTSA). Ron has over 40 years in this field. He presented a historical overview of the organization and talked about their need for donations to continue their work. Residential Treatment Services of Alamance has served Alamance County for over 46 years. They help alcoholics, addicts, and persons with mental illness recover from their disease. They started with Wesley Hall of Alamance in 1971. They serve both men and women. They provide the following treatment and recovery services: non-hospital medical detoxification; facility based crisis services; halfway house services for men; recovery home for homeless women; and group home services to adults with mental illness. They have several fundraising events during the year and asked us to assist if at all possible. Their budget is $1.8M a year and over 18% of that budget is funded through donations. Trollinger Treasures is a part of RTSA.
The meeting was adjourned and we all stood to recite the Rotary Four Way Test. Until next time…
